NOCCA will be holding its AGM at the above date and time. In consideration of COVID-19 restrictions, this year’s AGM will be held on ZOOM. If you would like to attend the AGM please email Su Lonsdale at nocca.secretary1@gmail.com and she will send you the password and instructions for using ZOOM.
In addition to a review of the past year, we will be revealing our plans for the coming season.
The minutes of the AGM will be distributed following the meeting.
There is not much to report these days with respect to NOCCA’s plans. We’re hoping to be able to present in the fall of 2021, but nothing is certain, yet. Trio d’Argento has kindly sent us a link to a free concert video of their live performance in Tofino, January 2020. They were presented in Vernon by NOCCA in November of 2018, and were widely praised for their inspiration and virtuosity.
The link below will be available between February 15th and March 8th 2021. Enjoy this concert, and Trio d’Argento encourages everyone to give generously to NOCCA and other worthy arts organizations that need all our support to launch successful live seasons after the Covid pandemic comes to an end.
The concert program is:
Ludwig van Beethoven (1770 – 1827) Trio op.11 for flute, cello and piano (arr. S.Marquardt) I. Allegro con brio II. Adagio III. Thema con Variazioni
Sergei Rachmaninoff (1873 – 1943) Etudes op.33 no.2 & op.39 no.3 for piano solo
Bohuslav Martinu (1890 – 1959) Trio for flute, cello and piano I. Poco Allegretto II. Adagio III. Andante – Allegretto scherzando
Trio d’Argento: Sibylle Marquardt, flute Paul Pulford, cello Todd Yaniw, piano

Greetings! Here’s hoping all is well with everybody, and that you’re coping with the new lifestyle imposed by COVID-19.
As you may have guessed, NOCCA is in a holding pattern at present. We’re in a constant “wait-and-see” mode; our ability to operate determined by the restrictions regarding audience size. Trying to put on concerts with a 50-patron maximum is not financially feasible, and, in addition, most of our performers would have to travel from other centres in Canada (and North America) which further restricts our activity.
We had one concert scheduled for the fall of 2020 and we’ve had to cancel that. There was also a concert scheduled for the spring of 2021 which also had to be cancelled. That leaves three concerts not yet cancelled, but, in all likelihood, they will have to be. Which leaves us with the hope that we will be able to start up again in the fall of 2021.
This is all dependent on our ability to present concerts for an audience much larger than the 50-patron maximum current restrictions allow. And this may well depend on the introduction of a vaccine.
We do have a full concert series planned for the 2021-2022 season, and we will be revealing it once we know we can go ahead with it.
We’re sincerely counting on our existing subscribers returning to the fold, and maybe bringing a few new faces along. One of the things that has been emphasized by all the concerts in Vernon being cancelled is how important live music is to us, and how dearly we miss it. Here’s hoping that we will all come back with renewed appreciation of everything that music has to offer us.
Hello NOCCA friends! We hope you are all doing well during these strange and trying times. We are still in a wait-and-see mode for many things regarding NOCCA’s 2020/21 concert season, but will be in touch with more information very soon.
In the meantime, for all of you pining for some live musical events, we wanted to tell you about the 5th annual Vernon Proms Classical Music Festival which will go ahead July 10th – August 6th with modified programming to keep Vernon and Kelowna (safely) buzzing with live classical music this summer.
Vernon Proms 2020 will be physically distanced, but socially connected and full of inspiring and uplifting music. The range of paid and free performances will take place at several indoor and outdoor venues in Vernon and Kelowna.
The decision to go ahead was made just a few weeks ago, so there still might be a couple of changes in the program. Please check their website for updates. You can find links to information and tickets at https://www.vernonproms.ca/events.
